Alpha 1.5 is an unreleased version of Hello Neighbor.

Plot

Nicky Roth is in his car driving to a new neighborhood. He parks in front of a derelict-looking blue house. Nicky opens the boarded-up front door, moves his belongings inside, and then takes a nap on a covered up couch. Nicky experiences distorted visions of the Neighbor taking over the house, and barricading and locking multiple doors. Nicky wakes up inside of his actual house on a couch. He views the Neighbor shut and lock the basement door. Now inside the Neighbor's house, Nicky quickly hides in a wardrobe after being heard. Nicky leaves the wardrobe, but is soon caught by the Neighbor.

Gameplay

After being thrown out, Nicky walks to the back of the house. He sees the crowbar on the rack in the tool room and enters the bedroom through the broken window. He walks along the hallway to the living room door and looks through the keyhole to watch the Neighbor's activity. Nicky then goes up to the second floor. The crow sees him and starts cawing, thus alerting the Neighbor. Nicky quickly grabs the electromagnet and jumps off the railing as the Neighbor starts heading upstairs. He quickly runs to the bedroom and closes the door. Nicky then jumps out through the broken window to the backyard and uses the electromagnet to get the lockpick through the small window of the tool room. He uses it on the red lock on the tool room door allowing him to access the crowbar. Hearing the Neighbor watching television, Nicky goes back up to the second floor to start a new distraction and sees that the Neighbor has placed a security camera. Nicky has no choice but to go to the next room. He gets a box of fireworks, igniting them and blinding the Neighbor but gets caught nonetheless. Nicky respawns in front of the house and again goes back up to the second floor. He then uses the crowbar to remove the nails on the door but the cawing of the crow lures the Neighbor back to him. Nicky blinds the Neighbor once again with the fireworks, giving himself some time to run into the next room, grab the keycard and hide in a wardrobe only for him to get caught once again.

After being caught, Nicky goes back inside through the broken window. He then walks towards the living room door and looks through the keyhole to see the Neighbor watching television. Nicky goes outside to the fuse box and turns off the power to lure the Neighbor out of the house. After that, Nicky uses this time to use the keycard on the terminal, remove the boards and finally open the basement door. Inside, Nicky walks down the stairs where he sees shadows and hears people crying, whilst a woman shouts "run!" ending up with a "shush". Arriving down the stairs, Nicky enters a strange and dark room with lots of candles, a mattress, a crib, a mannequin, a teddy and a few toy bricks. Nicky walks towards the slightly open door and at that same moment the chase music plays with the Neighbor appearing in the room running towards him. Nicky has to run through a labyrinth of corridors, unlocking a door and opening a gate. Eventually, he ends up in a room containing a bed. With nowhere else to go, Nicky hides under the bed. The Neighbor runs into the room and goes towards the bed. But before he gets to look under, a female scream is heard from the other room marked with a "HIDE HERE!" sign. The Neighbor immediately runs to the door and enters the room. Nicky goesoufrom under the bed, opens the door and the screen cuts to black. Distant screams can be heard in the background.

Ending

Once Nicky goes through the "HIDE HERE!" door, the screen will cut to black showing the game's logo, similar to the ending of Alpha 2.

Trivia

  • Similar to the Prototype, Alpha 1.5 was never publicly available.
  • Alpha 1.5 introduced Nicky Roth's player model.
  • This build was only seen in early trailers for Alpha 2. You can find a full walkthrough of this version in the Hello Neighbor Presskit.
  • Unlike Alpha 2, this build fully features the old art style.
  • This version of the Neighbor's house has many differences. It has a toy rifle hung on a wall at the end of the hallway. In the bedroom is an unused stereo system and a coffin, the staircase to the second floor is always open. The basement was fully explorable. Different wallpapers and decals that were never seen before have been used. Most of the cutscenes and animations were also different.
  • The Alpha 1.5 player can be actually found in the Modkit's Resources folder and it is a blender file called "player_body_old_8" It uses the Alpha 1 unused player model skeletal mesh, If you import it into Unreal Engine 4 or the Modkit the animations will be the old animations for Nicky and even will have the crouch Animation that's more annoying and faster speed. a Discord user who goes by the name "Title" has fixed the crouch animation and got it to be compatible with Nicky's alpha 2 player Skeleton.
  • The fingernails have no texture and are just a skin texture.
  • This was the first version to have an explorable basement.
