The Security Camera is a useless object in Hello Neighbor, and an important object in Hello Neighbor 2 and the Secret Neighbor Lucy Event.

Description

Hello Neighbor

In Hello Neighbor, the security camera is an object utilized by Mr. Peterson to track Nicky Roth. Mr. Peterson will install security cameras in his house to assist him in locating Nicky.

It detects Nicky Roth making sounds to which Mr. Peterson goes. Mr. Peterson can install security cameras where he noticed or last caught Nicky Roth. The security cameras do not work if you turn off the electricity to Mr. Peterson's House. You can also deactivate the security camera by throwing something in it (it does not work with non-portable cameras in Pre-Alpha). Mr. Peterson can repair broken security cameras. You can also take it as a normal object and thus render it harmless. If you throw something into the security camera, it will spark with blue flashes.

For Nicky, security cameras are completely useless to him, except that they can be picked up and thrown at Mr. Peterson.

In Pre-Alpha, Alpha 1 and Alpha 2, the security camera looks like a standard camera with a black body on the inside and white on the outside. In the lower left corner is a small red light which illuminates. Also there is an inscription on the side "Video Surveillance System". The lens has a cylindrical shape and it is black. The stand for the security camera itself is gray and has a hinge.

In Alpha 3, the appearance of the security camera changed and became cartoonish and curved. Now the body is completely gray, and the lens is white. The red light is on top and has become larger. Now the stand is the same color as the camera itself and it looks as if the security camera is held on one metal rod. Now you can see that the camera is connected to the wire.

History

Pre-Alpha

Security cameras first appeared in Pre-Alpha. In Pre-Alpha, security cameras cannot be picked up. Due to the fact that there is no fuse box, the protagonist cannot turn security cameras off, but they can be broken by throwing an object into them. When triggered, security cameras make a 1kHz tone.

Alpha 1

Security Cameras can now be picked up and neutralized by turning off the electricity. The protagonist can also neutralize security cameras by pressing a button in the CCTV room. When triggered, security cameras make a buzz instead of a 1kHz tone like in Pre-Alpha.

Alpha 2

The stands of the security cameras are now mounted to the wall instead of the ceiling, and the Neighbor can "fix" broken security cameras.

Alpha 3

The appearance of the security cameras changed. They look cartoonish.

Alpha 4

Now the Neighbor can place cameras right in front of Nicky Roth, this action has an animation.

Beta 3

The CCTV room through security cameras was returned with the same functions and changed. Now, to turn off the security cameras, you must disable the special switch.

Full Game

Mr. Peterson puts security cameras in all acts, not counting the beginning of Act 1 and if friendly mode is enabled.

Secret Neighbor

The security cameras in Secret Neighbor are very important for the last portion of the Lucy Ghost Event.

Location

Starting with Pre-Alpha, the Neighbor can place security cameras throughout his house, even on the walls of the basement.

Pre-Alpha

Three security cameras at the beginning of the game are located behind the wall of the garage, opposite the door to the closet room. One can be found on a chest of drawers near the command, opposite the kitchen. If you open the basement door with a hammer or crowbar and the copper key, and let the Neighbor catch you in his house many times, then sooner or later security cameras will appear.

Alpha 2

You can create the summon command in three ways:

  1. BP_Camera_C - Camera (with stand)
  2. BP_HolderCamera_C - Camera (stand)
  3. BP_VideoCamera_C - Camera (Normal)

One of the security camera with a stand can be found on the roof in the Test House.

Alpha 4

One security camera can be found in Fear Darkness on the floor (at the beginning and end of the level).

Beta 1 - 2

Large security cameras can be found on the wall, near the window in Fear Supermarket.

Beta 3

A bunch of security cameras can be found in the basement. It occurs in the same places as in Alpha 4, Beta 1-2.

Full Game

In the basement there is initially a bunch of security cameras.

Hello Guest

It can be bought in the supermarket and can be found in one of the abandoned shacks and in the attic of the guard building

Hello Neighbor 2

Alpha 1

It can be found in Quentin's van in the beginning of the game.

Alpha 1.5

Same as Alpha 1.

Beta

It can be found in the bedroom in the Raven Brooks Banner 4TV office.

Full Game

It can be found in a crate in a small room hidden behind a bookshelf in the 2nd floor of Mr. Peterson's house.

Trivia

  • A security camera with a stand (from Alpha 2; Test House and created by the Summon BP_Camera_C team) can be moved.
  • Interestingly, the old security camera icon was with a stand, although Nicky Roth takes the security camera without the stand itself.
  • Starting with Alpha 4, Mr. Peterson began to place security cameras more often, especially at the entrance to the house. This is affected by the size of Mr. Peterson's House and the number of floors and rooms available for Mr. Peterson.
  • Mr. Peterson is somehow able to tell when the cameras are activated without looking at the screen.
  • If Nicky Roth sits down (if the ability to hide while crouching is obtained), security cameras will detect Nicky Roth in anyway.
  • In Secret Neighbor there is an old security camera model, but it is not used in anyway.

Bugs

  • If the security cameras are broken, when there is no electricity at Mr. Peterson's House, some will still work after turning on the electricity.
  • In Alpha 2, Mr. Peterson has access to put security cameras anywhere. On the roof, in glass, behind the wall and even in the basement, on the chandelier.
