Window

Windows are one of the gameplay/home decor items in the Hello Neighbor series. Also, thanks to the window, you can observe what is happening on the inside of Mr. Peterson's House and if inside, observe what is happening outside. They also make easy entrances/exits when broken.

Description

If the doors are inaccessible to Nicky Roth, or if the Mr. Peterson is pursuing them, another way is needed. Windows will help in this matter. Nicky can break the window with almost any object and climb through it, so he will have a new passage. The sound of a window breaking will attract Mr. Peterson's attention, and he will immediately come to the window to find out what happened and then repair this window.

Alpha 2 introduced a useful feature for automatically popping into a window. To do this, break it, go as close to it as possible, look at the top of the window and press Space, preferably with the W key pressed. After all, before Alpha 2 it was very difficult, you had to use boxes and other objects, because the windows were high, and they themselves were low.

With Pre-Alpha, after breaking a window, Mr. Peterson will run to it, look into the window from the inside of the house, making sure that there is no intruder nearby and place an open trap under it. Mr. Peterson will run away to look for the protagonist further.

Mr. Peterson can board a window to prevent the player from climbing over it. In Pre-Alpha and Alpha 1, this depended on the number of crawls through the window by the player, in other versions it depends on the frequency of breaking the window by the player. In Pre-Alpha, Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Alpha 3 and Alpha 4, boards from windows could be torn off with a crowbar or a hammer.

Mr. Peterson also knows how to break windows, but usually he does it in a pinch, for example, when meeting a player. To break the glass, Mr. Peterson does not need objects, he just jumps into the glass and breaks it.

Apperance

Prototype - Pre-Alpha

In the Prototype and Pre-Alpha, there is one large window and one smaller one. Both have window sills which might aid the player when entering through the windows.

Alpha 1

All Pre-Alpha windows have been removed from the game. New window views have been added. They, unlike the previous ones, have no window sills, and double and triple windows have also appeared: Windows consisting of several standard windows. Also appeared windows with doors and small windows.

Alpha 1.5 - Alpha 2

Windows are left from Alpha 1, but new windows have been added. The brown windows belong to Nicky Roth's House, and the rest belong to Mr. Peterson's House and Mr. Peterson's shed.

Alpha 3

In Alpha 3, all windows from previous versions of the game have been removed. New windows with cartoony drawing style have been added:

Alpha 4

New windows were added in Alpha 4 - a window for the elevator shaft, a window for the attic was changed, an unbreakable window with shutters was added, an unbreakable iron window for the train module, a window that is used on residential buildings and a large window used in Fear School.

The appearance of the boards pinned to the window has been changed. Now the boards are made in a cartoon style.

Beta 1 - Beta 2

Several unbreakable windows were added for Nicky Roth's Apartment and Nicky Roth's House.

Beta 3

The texture of the boards pinned to the window has been changed.

Trivia

  • When Mr. Peterson watches TV, he does not pay attention to the windows, so he will not see the player outside the window during his favorite business.
  • In Pre-Alpha, if the player breaks the window of his house, then Mr. Peterson will pay attention anyway and follow the them.
  • Items such as a hat or a paper airplane can break a window in any case, although this is not technically possible in real life.
  • The fragments from broken glass will soon disappear so as not to burden the game with small elements.
  • An exception is the window in Mr. Peterson's attic in the form of a rhombus; it, starting with Alpha 4, leaves large fragments that remain until the next day in the game.
  • In the Mod Kit you can find a window that has similarities with the windows of the church. This can be found in a dream with slides in the full game. It is also used in Secret Neighbor.
  • In the full game, Mr. Peterson tries not to break the doors backed by chairs or an armchair in his house, he decides that he himself did this to close the passage to the player and simply bypasses the door, crawling through the nearest window.
  • Despite the fact that Mr. Peterson breaks windows without objects, in the Prototype he used a chair to get out through the window and in Pre-Alpha he uses a box, however this is only when Mr. Peterson is in advanced idle mode.
