Time Cycle is part of the mechanics of the Hello Neighbor games.

Description

There are 4 times of day in the game:

  • Morning
  • Day
  • Evening
  • Night

Each time of day has its own lighting and its own characteristics. For example: In the morning, a weak foggy effect appears (Starting with Alpha 1.5); Noticeable rays from the sun appear (Starting with Pre-Alpha), etc.

The street atmosphere also changes depending on the time of day. In the morning, you can hear birds singing; During the day, you can hear the bustle and communication of people; In the evening, you can hear human voices, a dog barking, etc.; At night, you can hear crickets (Starting with Alpha 3, you can hear the noise of trees)

Interestingly, the times of day changed depending on the versions of the game.

Pre Alpha

In Pre-Alpha, the lighting at the times of day was completely different, and there are also a lot of sun rays coming from the sun in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Alpha 1

In Alpha 1, all times of day have changed significantly (except for night): The rays are now weaker; Judging by the lighting, cloudiness begins during the day; in the evening, the sky is dimmer than in the previous version, etc.

Alpha 2

In Alpha 2, all times of day were removed except for day and evening. Most of the training takes place in the evening (which can be seen from the sky), and during the day, the events of the main game and the final training tasks take place.

Now the evening has a more uniform sky. The sky during the day has become partly similar to the evening, and the lighting itself has been changed. It can be said that in Alpha 2 the daytime is shown as realistically as possible.

Alpha 3

Unlike Alpha 2, Alpha 3 only has night time.

The night sky has become very dark and dim, lightning may strike during the night. Judging by the active movement of the leaves of the trees, together with the thunderstorm, there is a very strong wind at night.

Alpha 4

In Alpha 4 all times of day were significantly changed and starting from this version, the times of day were not changed in any way.

In the morning there is a fog effect, and the sky has become white and pink. In the daytime it has now become more colorful and bright. In the evening there is an abundant amount of rays, as it was in Pre-Alpha. The night has changed greatly compared to Alpha 3: The sky has become brighter, the sounds and lightning effect have been removed.

Starting with Alpha 4, the time of day can affect gameplay: There are now two new doors and rooms that are accessible at specific times of day (day and night). Also at night, if you don't have a flashlight on or aren't near a light source, Mr. Peterson will detect the player at a very short distance.

After completing the Act 1, the time of day changes as in Alpha 1-1.5 and Beta.
