The Pre-Release is a playtest version of Hello Neighbor, while the gameplay is pretty much the same as the full game, there is still a few differences here and there.

This build was used in YouTuber playthroughs, as well as being on the Xbox build Day 1, leading to a lot of broken builds and corrupted saves.

Main Differences

List of differences from the full version:

  • The menu is written in Beta 3 Font.
  • Lighting is different in cutscenes.
  • Mr. Peterson has animations from old Alpha versions.
  • The red key and red lock are in Burgundy color in this version.
  • There are many missing items in the rooms and they appear empty.
  • The icon for the power box is different

Act 1

  • Nicky say "hm" or "huh" in the opening scene.
  • Although Mr. Peterson sees you at the beginning, you can move around and this will skip another cutscene.
    • If you don't move and get caught, the cutscene still won't start.
  • The hat in Mr. Peterson's house is of a different color.
  • The interior of the children's room is different.
  • Aaron and Mya's Window are White.
  • Mr. Peterson doesn't grumble when you get caught at the end of Act 1.

Act 2

  • The camera angle is different when you wake up at the beginning of Act 2.
  • Aaron whispers "Hey You" from the door.
  • The camera angle of the cutscene at the end of Act2 is different.

Act 3

  • If you look through binoculars from the apartment, you will see Mr. Peterson sitting on the roof of his house and laughing, just like in the beta. The animation is slightly different from the beta.
  • There is no background music in the cutscene you are transported to.
  • The background song is missing from the cutscene that starts if you go to Mr. Peterson's house without sleeping after moving in.
    • Also, in the same cutscene, Nicky's face was not animated.
  • The camera angle in the waking cutscene is different.
    • This camera angle is similar to the camera angle in beta.
  • Clouds move much faster than in the full version.
  • When the object in our hand gets warm, its color doesn't turn orange.
  • There is no sound when you touch something hot.
  • The room where the Unreal engine Missing scenario is located is closed by an invisible wall.
  • Ladder platform next to the tracks is missing.
  • The map is quite different from the full version.

Act Finale

  • It is not possible to pass this act, because Fear School and Fear Darkness don't work in this version.

Trivia

  • The build was found months ago, by a group of people who were just digging around the Steam Manifests, and released it once given the go-ahead by tB.
