Ivan Torre, also known as the The Inventor, is one of the protagonists and Secret Neighbor kids' classes.

He also appears in Hello Engineer.

Appearance

He's a decently tall boy. He has ginger, disheveled hair. The Inventor has brown eyes. He wears a pale purple jumpsuit with a strap and gold accents, he wears an orange shirt with a short sleeve and a gear image, he wears black gloves and red glasses. He is also wearing orange boots. He also carries a hammer and pliers with him.

Also, his appearance can be changed thanks to the store, or rather the things that are sold there.

You can change:

  • Hats and Tools

Abilities

Tinkering

With the help of this ability, he is able to craft certain items. To craft them, he needs an amount of gears:

1 Gear - Hammer

2 Gears - Flashlight Saucepan

2 Gears - Level 1 Keycard, Night Vision Goggles & Threat Sensor

3 Gears - Level 2 Keycard & Crowbar

8 Gears - Toy Rifle

Reverse Engineering (Passive)

After he collects 6 gears, he's able to open passages that The Neighbor can only access, such as blocked off entries that lead into a room. However, this might make others think you're the neighbor.

Metal Detector

Ivan's latest advancement in Raven Brook's technology. The Inventor can pull out a metal detector, which allows him to find keycards, keys, and gears more efficiently.

Trivia

  • His full name was confirmed by Alex Nichiporchik on the Hello Neighbor Games Discord server.
    • In the files of the Hello Engineer Steam Demo, some of his animations call him Thomas, but in-game he's called Ivan, meaning Thomas is probably an old name for Ivan before they chose to name him Ivan.
      • The files also have his initials for some parts of him as "GB", this can be said to be his initials as Maritza's have "ME", which is her initials. This means Ivan originally had the initials "GB", what these initials mean is yet to be discovered.
  • Ivan's hair color doesn't seem to be natural, as his eyebrows are brown, and his hair is ginger.
  • According to Alex Nichiporchik, Ivan is hiding secrets and does not like speaking of Theodore.
  • In Secret Neighbor, he received a new update where he can craft new stuff such as “metal detector, night vision and danger sensor”.
  • In game files, there is concept art of each kid class. Inventor's concept art shows him with both black hair, and black eyebrows.
    • It is not known why the developers never changed both the hair and eyebrow color to be the same. It is most likely an issue that the developers noticed, but never changed for whatever reason.
  • Ivan used to have misconception with his name, as many people believed his name was "Jimmy".
    • This was because in the Rocket Science Update trailer, when Scout called the Inventor over, you can hear her say "Jimmy!". This turned out to be false, as Scout was just saying gibberish that just so happened to sound like the name Jimmy.
      • Another kid to have a misconception surrounding their name is Delroy, or the Bagger.
  • There used to be a rumor that both the Inventor and Scout where siblings.
  • In the files, Inventor's cosmetics reference him as "Engineer'.
  • In the IMDb page for Secret Neighbor, Ivan is voiced by a female voice actor. Her name is Lindsey Sheppard.
    • Ivan is not the only character is a boy and is voiced by a woman voice actor, as Bagger is also voiced by a female voice actor.
