Florence Dewitt, otherwise known as "Gammy Flo", was the inventor of the Golden Apples.
Story of the Golden Apples
Gammy Flo accidentally poured chocolate over her truffles too soon while working on a new candy, resulting in the chocolate melting in with the caramel rather than forming a hard coating over it. When she came back to check on the truffles, they all melted into little apple-shaped pools. Gammy started selling her golden apple treats at county fairs and bake sales. The Tavish family thought Gammy was sitting on a goldmine, so they bought the idea from her and she died happy and rich. The Tavishes were suddenly the most important people in Raven Brooks.
