The Carnival is a location in Hello Neighbor Alpha 1. It is a tutorial to teach the player the hiding mechanics in the game.

Accessibility

The carnival is a location where the game will transport the player after getting caught by the Neighbor or sleeping a certain amount times. Besides that, it is inaccessible.

Appearance

The carnival is set in a wide, seemingly infinite plain of tan concrete. The player will spawn in an enclosed area. In the enclosed area is a "YOU MUST BE THIS TALL TO HIDE" sign and a gate which leads into the actual tutorial area. In the tutorial area, the Neighbor is counting in the corner, and there are two "HIDE HERE!" signs which are pointed at two hiding spots: a bed and a wardrobe. A ferris wheel and another attraction can also be seen in the distance.

Gameplay

After entering the tutorial area, the player must quickly hide in either of the two spots, before the Neighbor finishes counting. Once the player has successfully hidden and the Neighbor does not see them, the screen fades to white and the player is teleported back into their house.

Trivia

• There is a rare bug when a Neighbor can't find you, instead he will just stand. When you give yourself into his hands voluntarily and hide again, he still won't be able to find you. Thus, you will not be able to get out of there and continue the game.
• If the player falls off the edge of the map, they will be able to see a large dark box underneath the map. The carnival is located inside this box.
