Umbrella
The Umbrella is an important object in Hello Neighbor.
Description
The umbrellas in Mr. Peterson's House all have different colors and patterns (for example, yellow with polka dots), but the handle of the umbrella is always black. With an umbrella, you can smoothly descend from a height. Thus, during a slow fall, you can fly with an umbrella farther than with a normal jump.
In Alpha 4 and onwards, if you fall from a great height, Nicky will hit the ground and die, so the umbrella is very useful in the game.
Locations
Hello Neighbor
Alpha 4
- There are a lot of umbrellas in Mr. Peterson's House, but the closest umbrella is in the corridor by the main entrance.
- On the second floor there are two umbrellas. Both are behind different gates.
- Another umbrella that can be found next to the door to the night room.
- An umbrella can also be found in the corner of the bedroom, next to the stove.
Beta 1-2
- Nothing has changed since Alpha 4.
Beta 3
- The number of umbrellas decreased from five to two, one can be found on the second floor in the room behind the gates, and the other in the room with a lift.
- Many umbrellas can be found in the ceiling of the special room in the Final Battle.
Full Game
- No changes after Beta 3, except that the umbrellas are only present in Act 3 and the Final Battle.
Hide & Seek
- Located in all stages except the fifth, behind the map. In Stage 1, it is behind one of the windows. In Stage 2, it is behind a gate with a wall you can walk through. In Stage 3, it is behind the window next to the firetruck. In Stage 4, it is behind a vent inside the supermarket. These are all in locations for achievements like Error1, Error2, Error3, and Error4. The neighborhood is also present in view.
Designs
There are two designs for umbrellas in Hello Neighbor. The first is a sky blue color and white-striped. and the second is red and white polka-dotted.
Usage
The umbrellas are used to access a lot of areas key to the game. Some examples include: the sun and moon doors, the scared mannequin, one of the slices of cake, Fear Darkness, the stilted platform.
Trivia
- There were four different umbrellas in the game before Beta 3.
- On the game map, before Beta 3, there were two identical yellow umbrellas.
- Also in the Final Battle there are a bunch of identical yellow umbrellas.
- Mod Kit files has a realistic umbrella model.
- In the trailer for Halloween, Nicky Roth held the umbrella differently. It is possible that the developers were just testing a new animation.
- In the trailer during the development of Alpha 4, the umbrella had an icon in the form of a green apple.
- It was planned to be added to Alpha 1, but due to lack of time it was not added to Alpha 1.
- The use of the Umbrella is based of Mary Poppins.
- There is a secret umbrella in the finale battle on one of the platforms. It is only reached using a glitch.
- In Alpha 3.5, the umbrellas final icon is absent, instead being the "Pre-Alpha apple" placeholder icon seen before.
