Enzo Esposito, also known as The Detective, is one of the main characters of the Hello Neighbor books and Secret Neighbor kid classes. He is The Brave's older brother.

He's a fast-talking, quick-thinking athlete, and Nicky's best friend. While the pair met through their lifelong pal dads, Their own friendship was fast and unique.

Enzo is a championship gamer, a basketball showboat, and an opinionated adventurer. While he and Nicky seemed different on the surface, they share a sense of sarcastic humor.

Appearance

Enzo has brown hair and brown eyes. He wears a pair of round glasses without lenses, and his nose and ears are red. His mouth curves downwards and his forehead is tall compared to other characters.

Enzo also has a white dress shirt with a purple striped tie covered by a red sweater, which has a similar pattern to Theodore Peterson's sweater. Enzo has red and white sneakers and light blue jeans. He wears a brown belt with a yellow buckle which has a pocket on one side and a badge on the other. Around his neck is a camera, with red and blue buttons and a slot for the pictures to come out of.

In Hello Neighbor: Reset Day, Enzo has a salt and pepper goatee, and similar glasses.

Abilities

Field Intel
Enzo will get a photo of a room containing a key, this photo shows the general area of the key, including props, wallpaper, and other unique features that can help the squad find keys. Remember, only you can see this photo, so describe it as well as you can!

Intuition
After collecting 3 keys via Field Intel, Enzo unlocks the ability to highlight a key needed to unlock the basement, it is highlighted until the key is found.

Detectio
Enzo can trigger a small sonar every 10 seconds, this sonar tracks key-items, such as crowbars, hammers, saucepans, candy bars, and keycards! It also reveals the location of bear-traps and smoke traps!

Trivia

Enzo is taller than all of the kids, the second tallest one is Trinity.
He is in a relationship with The Leader by book 2.
In the Easter Alpha for Secret Neighbor, he used to have painted nails. This was removed in the Beta and full release.
Enzo loves to play basketball, but Nicky despises sports, as stated in the books.
In the books, Enzo has a hard time believing Mr. Peterson is evil.
In the launch trailer of Secret Neighbor, Enzo was shown as Mr. Peterson in disguise.
Enzo was friends with Aaron, the son of The Neighbor, but got creeped out and stayed away from him.
Enzo owns a car shop called E&J Motors that belongs to him and his son, Jordy, in Reset Day. He started building it when Jordy was 4 and met someone who was into gadgets and tinkering who helped Enzo build it.
- This "someone" may be The Inventor, (or Ivan) but this is not confirmed.
Enzo's son, Jordy, and his sister, Maritza, both know the truth, being that he was taken by the Guest.
Enzo stopped hanging out with Aaron because he would rather be playing video games (Missing Pieces)
Before Detective had a slight rework in Secret Neighbor, his "Field Intel" ability used to give the general area of where a key was. Sometimes, the photo wouldn't lead the player to a key, but rather a keycard instead.
Both Detective and Brave, were shown to have curly hair and dark-brown skin in the books, this was changed.
- It is unknown why their skin tone and hair type was changed, especially since Secret Neighbor's character designs were based off of the animated series, and the character designs for the animated series were based off the books. This was said in a Steam post by Alex.
In Latin terminology, Both Enzo's and Brave's last name translate to "to place outside" or "exposed" in Latin.
